Welcoming Ring

 Welcoming Ring

The young man hugs his granny, like a little boy,
as she puts a ring in his hand.
The young woman’s eyes ask, “What and why?
He says, “Darling! Let me explain.” . . .

“As a little boy, I admired this ring on my gram’s finger.
The sparkling diamonds set amethyst around.
They blinked and winked like the smiling stars.
Grandma had said, ‘One day, dear,  you will fall in love.
If I like your girl, this ring will be yours.’ . . .

“This means that granny likes my choice.
She welcomes you, my love! The ring is yours.
You wear this ring for sparkle and shine.
This symbol of love just warms my heart.” . . .

I was at a classical music concert and was looking at my ring and this imagination resulted.

Next day I asked five year old grandson, Kethan, “Do you like this ring.”… “Yes.”
I said , “When you are older, you will bring your girl friend here.” He asked, “Who Sufi?” (his sister)
I said, “No, your girl friend from college.”  Kethan, “”Tell me who is she?”
But anyway, he liked the idea to receive this ring one day.

    …nice poem
The word Love has been tossed around the English language so much; that sometimes, it loses it’s meaning. To me, love means many things. Love means showing someone that you care. Love is being there when you are needed. Love is giving of your self freely. Love is listening with an empathetic heart. Love is sharing and caring. Love is ultimately shown through your actions. Love is saying thank you to let others know that you appreciate them. Remember the saying Actions speak louder than words;when it comes to love, they really do. Remember, Grandma had said, ‘One day will come, you will fall in love.

If I like your girl, this ring will be yours.’”
