The Havoc of his heel. Saryu Parikh

The Havoc of His Heel
The energetic boy, his ball and his goal,
His rigorous vigor often overflows.
The havoc of his heel we anxiously feel,
The unintended smacks take time to heal.

The thump of his ball, the crashing sound in the hall!
“Nothing is broken!” surely follows by his call.

“You be careful and kick it slow.”
“Yes, I did, but it went crisscross.”

The thunder of his ball,
Shakes paintings on the wall.
Force and energy rolled into one,
The amazing might in this young one.

Things may break, we clear the mess,
 But my grandson’s smile remains intact.

Our 10 years old grandson Kethan. 2017. His soccerball kicks and baseball paying, had similar impacts.

Soft Yellow Ball
We had a soft yellow ball and green little bat;
A rug in her room was a grand play mat.
“Granny! You throw the ball and I hit away;
I know you are slow and I will get away.”

She would laugh and say, “Oh, boy! You are fast.
You surely are the best; now I need some rest.”
In the heart of my heart, I had a suspicion,
Sometimes grandma just lets me win.

“I make the tricky moves; I am a checkers champ.”
But alas! When I was trapped; I held the tears back.
Grandma used to say,
“Oops! I made a wrong move.
It looks like, boy, you will win soon.”

In the heart of my heart, I have now confidence;
Grandma has helped; it’s a coincidence.

I go out into the world,
so assertive and keen,
I have to do my best
where no one easily, allows me to win.
